Police Open Blocks On Salemba Street To Facilitate Access To Hospitals
JAKARTA - Central Jakarta Metro Police officers opened a post for blocking the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) on Jalan Salemba Raya due to considerations to facilitate traffic to hospitals in the area.
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Hengki Haryadi said there were nine blocking posts in his area.
However, Hengki said the Emergency PPKM blocking post on Jalan Salemba would be moved due to the large number of COVID-19 referral hospitals.
"From the results of the analysis, we will move it because there are three government and private referral hospitals. Both the patient side, as well as the health worker side, are a bit disturbed. We analyze it for us to move it," said Hengki, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 8.
Hengki admitted that the mobility of patients and health workers experienced traffic problems to get to the hospital.
At least, there are two major hospitals on Jalan Salemba Raya, namely Carolus Hospital and Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
Meanwhile, Hengki emphasized that the blocking at eight other points was effective to suppress mobility. Moreover, the police also announced the categories of motorists who could pass.
Previously, on the first working day of the Emergency PPKM, last Monday, Jalan Salemba Raya was completely jammed due to the blocking of the Emergency PPKM post on Jalan Kramat Raya.
As a result, the queue of vehicles lengthens and traffic jams occur from morning until noon.
Even so, Hengki explained that during the implementation of Emergency PPKM, mobility in Central Jakarta slowly decreased.
