Members Argue With Police At Insulation Post, Danpaspampres: Officers Don't Understand The Rules

JAKARTA - The Commander of Paspampres Major General Agus Subiyanto spoke about the viral video of an argument between his members and police officers in Daan Mogot, West Jakarta.

In the video, officers guarding the isolation point in the Daan Mogot area, West Jakarta, prevented a resident who was later identified as a member of Paspampres, namely Praka Izroi, from passing.

According to Agus, there are still officers at the isolation point who do not understand the rules applied during the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). This is what makes the argument then happen.

"The emergency PPKM regulations have not yet been understood by officers in the field regarding the essential, non-essential, critical sectors. Those working in this sector may pass through the partition," he told reporters, Thursday, July 8.

He then said that this rule was contained in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs No. 17 of 2021 which excludes restrictions for essential and critical sectors. Some of the fields that are included in the critical sector are national vital objects as well as public security and order.

Moreover, Agus said that many Paspampres members do not live in the dormitories that have been provided in the capital. Most of them or nearly 75 percent of them live in the Greater Jakarta area.

So, it is certain that when they depart or go to work they will pass through a number of isolation points.

Agus hopes that similar incidents will not happen again, the socialization of this rule is conveyed appropriately to officers in the field. "There must be a socialization of these instructions," he said.

"I have coordinated with the Dansat TNI and Polri in the field to understand the rules regarding Emergency PPKM," added Agus.

According to him, the problem has been resolved by asking the members for information. In addition, the West Jakarta Police Chief has also expressed his apologies for the attitude of one of his members at the isolation post.

Moreover, in the viral video, it appears that a member of the police forces the Paspampres member to show his membership card.

He even questioned the interests of the Paspampres. "If you are Paspampres, why is that?" asked the officer.

Agus said that there were indeed a number of Paspampres members who came to the West Jakarta Police on Wednesday, July 7 last night. They came to see if the police officers who were arguing with their colleagues had been warned by their superiors.

"My members who came to the police station wanted to make sure that the person speaking in the video 'why are you Paspampres?' has been warned by his superiors (or not, ed)," said Agus.

"Because this offends state institutions," he concluded.
