'Extraordinary' Yahukimo Papua Regency Government Purchased 2 Vellfire-Land Cruiser Official Cars For Rp4 Billion, Now Investigated

WAMENA - The Jayawijaya District Attorney's Office (Kejari) is investigating the procurement of two official cars in Yahukimo Regency for more than four billion rupiah. The investigation was carried out because the procurement of billions of official cars was indicated to have resulted in state losses.

Head of the Special Crimes Section (Kasipindsus) of the Jayawijaya District Attorney's Office, Arnes Tomasila, said that the vehicle procurement case had been upgraded from an investigation to an investigation.

"In the investigation process, there was an unlawful act in which the procurement process did not comply with government regulations regarding government goods and services, Presidential Decree Number 54 of 2010 and its amendments," said Arnes, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 7.

The local prosecutor's team will coordinate with the competent authority to calculate the alleged state financial loss in the case.

"Regarding the indication of state financial loss, there has been an unlawful act, where the indication of state financial loss was obtained from an unreasonable profit," continued Arnes.

The procurement of the two Land Cruiser and Vellfire vehicles was sourced from Yahukimo's 2016 APBD amounting to Rp4,565,000,000.

"When it was budgeted, then there was an auction process, the determination of the winner, the signing of the contract, the disbursement was carried out and until the delivery of the goods. Now, during the investigation process that we carried out yesterday, we found that there was a criminal incident there," he said.

"Later on, when the investigation process is about to be carried out, we will only explore it to make the criminal act clear, so as to find out who the suspect is," continued Arnes.
