Papua Prosecutor's Office Investigate Alleged Deviations In Budget For The Tabita Sentani Hotel Project

JAYAPURA - The Papuan High Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating a report by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) regarding the overpayment for the construction of the Tabita Sentani Hotel of Rp3,429 billion previously issued by the Jayapura Regional Government.

"It is true that investigators are still investigating the alleged misuse of the budget for the construction of the Tabita Convention Sentani Hotel, Jayapura Regency, which is budgeted at Rp. 72,877,339,120," said Head of the Papua High Prosecutor's Office, Nikolaus Kondomo in a virtual press statement, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 7.

He said the budget allocated for the construction of the Tabita Hotel was Rp. 72.877 billion and was carried out by PT. Plaza Crystal International (PCI) as the winner of the tender.

The funds for the construction of the hotel came from the Jayapura Regency APBD in 2019, Kondomo said.

Kajati added, PT. PCI has received an advance for the first stage of Rp. 24,295 billion and from the results of the BPK RI audit, it turned out that there was an overpayment of Rp. 3,429 billion.

Funds amounting to Rp3,429 billion cannot be accounted for and so far have not been returned so that the Papua Prosecutor's Office will raise its status to investigation.

It is recorded that 12 witnesses have been examined, both from the Jayapura Regency Government and from PT. PCI and no one has been named as a suspect, I am Kondomo, who was accompanied by Aspidsud Aleksander Sinuraya and a number of officials in the Papua High Court.

Admittedly, the construction of the Tabita hotel whose funds came from the Jayapura Regency Regional Budget and currently the contract with PT. PCI.

The Tabita Hotel itself was built to support the implementation of the XX PON, one of which is located in the Jayapura area, added the Papuan Attorney General's Office, Nikolaus Kondomo.
