5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Sumba NTT, Vibrations Can Be Felt Until Labuan Bajo

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 rocked the Sumba Island, East Nusa Tenggara, on Wednesday at around 07.38 WIB, according to information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) received in Jakarta. The epicenter of the earthquake was at 9.48 South Latitude and 119 Latitude, 71 East Longitude as far as 20 kilometers northeast of Waibakul, NTT with a depth of 49 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt in a number of places, including Labuan Bajo with an MMI scale, Bima III MMI, Waingapu III MMI, Waikabubak III MMI, and Tambolaka III MMIBMKG informed that the earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami wave.

On its website, the BMKG asks the public to be careful of the possibility of aftershocks.
