JAKARTA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said that based on observations from the air, the traffic situation at a number of points had reduced the volume of vehicles.
"Compared to before the implementation of emergency community activity restrictions (PPKM), there was a reduction, but it still needs to be increased again," he said after reviewing the process of implementing emergency PPKM by helicopter to a number of points in East Java, reported by Antara, Tuesday, July 6.
The number one person in the provincial government together with the East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta and the Military Commander V/Brawijaya Maj. Gen. Suharyanto for about 90 minutes monitored the areas of Surabaya-Sidoarjo, Gresik-Surabaya, Suramadu Bridge and Pandaan-Malang.
According to Khofifah, the reduced mobility and movement of people, except for critical and essential matters, is expected to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
On the same occasion, the first female governor in East Java appreciated the synergy between the TNI-Polri and the pentahelix element in strengthening the implementation of emergency PPKM.
"This is important, because cooperation and collaboration are an important part in dealing with COVID-19, especially in East Java," he said.
Governor Khofifah again reminded people from outside the city who want to pass the partition, they must bring a COVID-19 free certificate.
In addition, he continued, people who do not have an urgent need to stay at home during the emergency PPKM policy.
"Don't forget to bring the results of the antigen or PCR test and a vaccinated sign card. Be disciplined to always follow health protocols. Others, I beg you to stay at home for the safety of yourself and your family," he said.
Emergency PPKM was officially enforced from 3-20 July 2021 in Java and Bali, while in East Java it was implemented in 38 districts/cities.
The joint TNI-Polri team conducted isolation at 72 points in the East Java region, consisting of 45 toll road exits, 20 inter-rayon points and seven border points.
The hope of the isolation is as an effort to anticipate the spread of COVID-19 so that it does not spread further.
