JAKARTA - In February 2021, there were many cases of extortion allegedly carried out by fake journalists against the boss of the Sintang gas station, West Kalimantan.
The extortionists had the initials ER, HD, and PR. They were caught red-handed while distributing the extortion proceeds worth Rp. 5 million at a coffee shop, Saturday, February 6.
Head of the General Crime Section of the Sintang District Attorney's Office, West Kalimantan, Andi Tri Saputro, said the case had been tried. Currently, this case is in the process of being examined by the defendant.
"Meanwhile, the trial for the statements of the witnesses in this case was completed last week. A total of 16 witnesses were questioned," said Andi Tri Saputro when contacted in Sintang, reported by Antara, Tuesday, July 6.
Saputro said the trial would continue on Monday, July 12 with the agenda for reading the demands. After the hearing of the reading of the demands, there is a defense hearing, and then the trial of the verdict from the Panel of Judges.
He said the articles imposed were still the same, namely Article 369 of the Criminal Code and Article 335 of the Criminal Code.
It is known, the three were arrested on the report of Abraham Siahaya, the owner of a gas station on the Melawi-Sintang Road who claimed to be threatened and blackmailed by the three people. To the police, the resident of Baning Kota admitted that he was asked for money along with threats.
