Sad News, Lethal Weapon And Superman The Movie Director Richard Donner Passes Away

JAKARTA - The famous director Richard Donner passed away on Monday, July 5, United States time. Launching Deadline today, July 6, Donner's wife, producer Lauren Schuler Donner and his manager confirmed the news. So far, the cause of the Hollywood director's departure is unknown.

Richard Donner directed several iconic films from 1970 to 1980, one of the first films in the Superman franchise starring Christopher Reeve.

In addition, Donner is also the figure behind the Lethal Weapon franchise. At the end of 2020, his name was asked to direct Lethal Weapon 5. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover were confirmed to be joining the film again.

“This is the last film. A gain and a duty to end it. This is the last one, I promise," Donner quoted NME as saying.

Donner has also produced a number of Hollywood films, including X-Men, The Goonies, Maverick, and 16 Blocks.

Doctor Sleep director Mike Flanagan wrote, “Sad to hear this. An extraordinary talent. The films are why I make films.”

Richard Donner left his wife, Lauren Shuler Donner, whom he married since 1986. He died at the age of 91 years.
