US Suspected Terrorist Fleeing Successfully Arrested, Hiding In Relative's House
JAKARTA - The National Police Anti-terror Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Team together with the Bangka Belitung Police Joint Team were finally able to arrest the US, a suspected terrorist who had fled from the examination room of the Bangka Belitung Police Headquarters since Thursday, July 1.
Head of the Public Information Section (Kabagpenum) of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, said that AS was arrested at his family home in Kace Village, Mendo Barat District, Bangka Regency.
"The US arrests by the Densus Team and the Joint Criminal Investigation Team and the Babel Police Intelligence took place Monday, July 5 at 21.30 WIB," Ramadhan said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 6.
Ramadhan said that AS was arrested at a relative's house which is an hour's drive from the Bangka Belitung Police Headquarters.
"Along with the arrests of the US, the arrest of two other people, suspected to be relatives, their involvement was to hide the US," Ramadhan said.
Ramadan has yet to reveal the initials of the two US relatives who were arrested Monday. Police are still investigating their involvement with the US.
Police have also investigated that the US is a member of the Jamaah Islamiah (JI) group. Previously, the National Police stated that the US was involved in the JAD group.
Initially, the US was arrested in Bangka Belitung, Wednesday, June 30. The US arrest is the result of the development of the arrest of two suspected terrorists, namely DS who was arrested in East Jakarta, and SY who was arrested in West Jakarta.
All three were involved in the delivery of firearms and ammunition. The US sent firearms and ammunition from Bangka Belitung to DS in East Jakarta. Meanwhile, SY is a fundraiser as well as sending money for the purchase of the firearms.
"So the role of the DS is to receive this weapon package," said Ramadhan.
Meanwhile, the suspect SY, said Ramadhan, played a role in raising funds and had a bank account where funds were purchased for weapons purchases.
The funds raised by SY were sent to AS in Bangka Belitung to send packages containing weapons.
SY has made several transactions to transfer funds for the purchase of weapons to the US.
"The first fund was sent Rp. 3 million, the second Rp. 7 million, and the third was sent Rp. 3 million. There is a column for information written on the delivery of revolvers and long rifles," said Ramadhan.
