Donald Trump's Tease Given Label Check Facts By Twitter For The First Time

JAKARTA - Since the beginning of this month, Twitter has intended to discipline its users not to spread misinformation, especially about the corona virus or COVID-19. They announced that they would label the misleading information as "Get the facts", regardless of who said it.

Regarding COVID-19, Twitter said that anyone, even world leaders, could be subject to a warning label or have their tweets wiped out if they went against the guidelines of a trusted public health agency. This has actually been done by Twitter.

Twitter has deleted a tweet from Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro praising the use of the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine and saying that social distancing has ended. Another deleted tweet came from Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. In his tweet, he promoted a "natural drink" that can cure COVID-19.

Then what just happened are two tweets from the President of the United States, Donald Trump who tweeted on May 26 that was labeled "Get the facts about mail-in ballots" by Twitter. Of Donald Trump's many controversial tweets, this is the first time his tweet has been labeled.

In that tweet, Trump accused incoming ballots of leading to fraudulent elections. He says ballot boxes will be robbed, ballots will be faked, even illegally printed and fraudulently signed. He even accused the governor of California of sending ballots to millions of people. Anyone who lives in the state, no matter who they are or how they got there, will get it. Then they will be told by the professionals to vote even though they never thought about voting before.

Clicking on the "Get the facts about mail-in ballots" label in a tweet will give you more information about what is written in the tweet. In this case, the fact checker said there was no evidence that the incoming ballots were linked to a fraudulent election. Then in fact, only registered voters will receive ballots. Even reported by NBC News, there are 5 states that choose to use ballots and suggest various forms of attendance letters.

In response to this, Donald Trump then accused Twitter of interfering in the 2020 Presidential Election and completely paralyzing the right to free speech. As President, he said he would not let that happen.

For those of you who frequently follow Trump's tweets, they may even wonder why this is the first time his tweets have been labeled because Twitter critics alone have complained about Trump.

Shortly before, Twitter was also under fire for its inaction in responding to Trump's tweets containing baseless conspiracy theories about the death of Lori Kaye Klausutis.
