Fadli Zon Considers Government Unable To Face COVID-19, Suggests Asking For World's Help
JAKARTA - The chairman of the House of Representatives' Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) Fadli Zon highlighted the crazy spike in the COVID-19 pandemic in recent weeks. This spike even paralyzed a number of referral hospitals in Jakarta and a number of other big cities.
"O Allah. Apart from praying and trying, global intervention should really be needed to deal with the Covid pandemic in Indonesia. The government is no longer capable," said Fadli Zon in a statement uploaded via his personal Twitter account @fadlizon, quoted by VOI, Monday, July 5.
Fadli also repeatedly urged the government to take steps to ask for help from other countries. His statement refers to media reports that say Indonesia has collapsed in the face of the pandemic.
"There should be immediate global intervention and assistance for Indonesia," Fadli tweeted in the next post.
The deputy chairman of the Gerindra Party also stated that the state was unable to save people's lives.
"Hospitals are powerless to serve patients, oxygen is scarce, vitamins are hard to come by," he wrote.
The former deputy chairman of the DPR also asked President Jokowi to be more sensitive to the current conditions.
“The debt to the hospital (also) has not been paid. Many people are trying to save themselves," he said while mentioning the @jokowi account.
