BENGKULU - Police have pocketed the identities of seven suspected perpetrators who robbed an ambulance in Bengkulu. The ambulance was robbed after delivering a COVID-19 patient.
"We have pocketed the names and addresses of the seven suspected perpetrators. The investigation will be backed up by the Bengkulu Police and is now in the pursuit process. We hope that all the perpetrators can be arrested as soon as possible," said Head of Public Relations of the Bengkulu Police, Kombes Sudarno, quoted by Antara, Monday. , July 5th.
Previously, an ambulance belonging to the Rejang Lebong Regency Government, Bengkulu, was robbed in the Curup-Lubuklinggau Cross Road area on Saturday, July 3 in the morning at around 01.06 WIB.
The incident occurred when an ambulance that had just finished delivering COVID-19 patients from Rejang Lebong Regency to a hospital in Lubuklinggau City stopped at Head Curup Village, Binduriang District, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu, due to a tire burst.
While the ambulance driver was trying to change tires, seven men came pretending to offer help. However, a moment later the gang of thugs pointed a knife and asked the driver and a nurse who was waiting in the car to hand over their valuables.
The gang of gangsters took away two mobile phones and Rp150,000 in cash as well as several other medical devices.
Sudarno said the police would tighten the guard on the causeway, considering that the burglary incident in the area was not the first but for the umpteenth time.
Sudarno also appealed to people who would pass on the road to ask for an officer escort, especially for residents who passed at night.
"People who will pass late at night can request an escort to the nearest Polsek, and we will make sure to take firm action against the perpetrators," said Sudarno.
