Emergency PPKM In Jakarta Hasn't Been Effective, PDIP: Mr. Anies, Don't Hide

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives, Deddy Sitorus, assesses that the implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java and Bali has not been implemented effectively. In Jakarta, there is chaos in the accumulation of vehicles due to insulation.

According to Deddy, PPKM in the capital is only effective on holidays. Where people do not work but other activities continue as usual, there is not even a decrease in activity in settlements or crowded places.

Moreover, he said, the kelurahan apparatus for him did not participate in supervising residents' activities.

“The partitions should have been carried out at the entrance and exit of settlements, so that from the start, non-urgent activities of residents could be reduced. Without the cooperation of the lowest level apparatus and residents at the RT level, this PPKM will never achieve its goals,” said Deddy to reporters, Monday, July 5.

“Frankly, I am worried when I see crowds at the residential level, especially in densely populated areas. Residents' activities have not decreased significantly, this is very dangerous," he continued.

Deddy is worried that the capacity of health services has exceeded the capacity, and there is a shortage of oxygen. Because the Corona virus variants that are now attacking, especially the Delta variant, are very fast in transmission. Moreover, family clusters also continue to increase, as well as child sufferers.

“Jakarta has collapsed, in the past few days a lot of people we know have fallen. Death felt so real and imminent. But the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and its apparatus seem to have disappeared," said Deddy.

Therefore, Deddy hopes that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and related agencies in Jakarta will immediately appear to the public to ensure Emergency PPKM runs well.

"Don't hide when there's a problem and then perform when things get better," the PDIP politician quipped.

Deddy also questioned the whereabouts of Governor Anies because his area was an emergency but his voice was never heard.

“Jakarta is now the most dangerous city in the world. Isn't the governor ashamed? We are being targeted by foreign media, just like what happened in India. Mr. Anies, come down, you have troops up to the RT, it's time for you to organize the system and not just organize words," he said.

Deddy emphasized that the Governor of DKI Jakarta should not continue to take refuge under the central government. Because, DKI Jakarta has a budget, has apparatus, and has authority.

Therefore, Deddy asked Anies to work effectively and raise public awareness before more victims died due to the unclear control of the COVID-19 pandemic in Jakarta.

"The success of this PPKM is also very much determined by community participation," concluded Deddy.
