Prayers And Pilgrimage To The Tomb Of Bung Karno Held In Accordance With The COVID-19 Prevention Protocol

JAKARTA - The Bung Karno Month commemoration by PDI Perjuangan this year, in general, was held virtually because of the outbreak of the corona virus or COVID-19. However, there will also be joint prayer activities and a pilgrimage to Bung Karno's grave in Blitar, East Java.

PDIP Chairman of the DPP for Ideology and Cadresisation Djarot Syaiful Hidayat explained that there is usually a series of Bung Karno Month activities on June 1, June 6, and June 21. These three activities will be carried out physically but still undergo the COVID-19 prevention protocol.

"We have coordinated with friends (PDIP cadres) in Blitar. The three events will continue in Blitar with new packaging, both physically and virtually," Djarot told reporters via a webinar, Wednesday, May 27.

Djarot explained that on June 1, there is usually a Pancasila birthday ceremony known as Grebeg Pancasila. In the event, all ceremony participants with cultural closeness carried symbols of Pancasila, and brought scroll five which would later be brought to Bung Karno's grave.

On June 6, which coincides with Bung Karno's birthday, the people of Blitar will hold a prayer together and a pilgrimage at the tomb of the Proclaimed Father.

Then, on the evening of June 20, which coincided with the commemoration of Bung Karno's death, the agenda of praying together with the community gathered.

"In Blitar, an event will be held on June 6, but with the COVID-19 protocol without involving many people, of course," said Djarot.

"Prayers were also carried out at Bung Karno's grave complex with the COVID-19 protocol. So, we have packed it according to the COVID-19 condition by not neglecting health protocols," he added.

Bung Karno's month in the middle of the COVID-19 event

PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said the Bung Karno Month which is held annually throughout Indonesia will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 event.

The series of events that will be held on June 1, 6 and 21 will be carried out online, through teleconferences, webinars, and the utilization of all social media, with the theme Bung Karno, the Father of the Nation, Spirit of Pancasila: Mutual Cooperation against COVID-19.

"Bung Karno's Moon Commemoration in the midst of COVID-19 reminds us how at least the Indonesian nation must be self-reliant at least in the fields of food, health, energy, finance, defense and security," said Hasto.

The series of activities for the Bung Karno Month include speech competitions, songwriting competitions, video making competitions, virtual Bung Karno Museum titles, social services, and also various forms of cultural activities.

"Similar activities are also carried out by all party administrators and cadres in the regions by prioritizing local content," said Hasto.
