President Jokowi Invited To Celebrate Anti-Corruption Day With KPK
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Agus Rahardjo invited President Joko Widodo to attend the commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) at the KPK Support Building, Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta on Monday, December 9.
Agus said the invitation had been sent to President Jokowi. Now his party is just waiting for confirmation from the Presidential Palace.
"We are waiting for his (news) if I am not mistaken the answer will be in the near future. What is clear is that we really hope for his presence," said Agus in a press conference ahead of the Hakordia event at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, 6 December.
The KPK hopes that the President can participate in celebrating 2019 Hakordia at the KPK, as well as witness the annual reflection of JAGA. JAGA is an application that was launched in Hakordia 2017 and is a public information portal related to public services such as education, health, villages, and licensing.
When this application was inaugurated, President Jokowi came. Agus also hopes that President Jokowi will listen to JAGA's current developments.
Agus added that this year's Hakordia event will be simpler than the previous year, which was usually held at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta. "Even though it is simpler in nature, we are still encouraging the spirit of anti-corruption," he said.
Not only inviting President Jokowi, the KPK also invited ministers and representatives of political parties. Later, they will present a presentation in this series of Hakordia events.
In addition, later the leadership of the KPK for the 2019-2023 period will also be invited and there will be discussion sessions discussing the fate and future of the KPK in the future.
"After the opening in the morning, we will also have an event. Hopefully all the speakers can be present," he said.
The hope is, when the new leadership participates in the discussion entitled KPK Hearing this, the mistakes in the KPK can be heard properly.
"Hopefully with the KPK hearing this we can determine the future direction, especially for the new leadership," he concluded.
