Jokowi Mourns The Death Of Rachmawati Soekarnoputri
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his condolences for the death of Rachmawati Soekarnoputri this morning.
President Jokowi through his Instagram account, said that Rachmawati is a figure whose traces of life stretch out in various fields such as education, social, to politics.
"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. My family and I are deeply saddened by the passing of Mrs. Hj. Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, today in Jakarta at the age of 70. The deceased was a figure whose life traces spanned various fields, from education, social, to politics," said President.
The President prayed that the late Rachmawati would find a spacious place in the presence of Allah SWT, and that the bereaved family would be given strength and patience by Allah SWT.
"Hopefully the deceased will find a spacious place with Allah SWT, and the entire family left behind may be given strength and patience," said President Jokowi.
Rachmawati, who was the deputy chairman of the Gerindra Party's Board of Trustees, died at the age of 70 at the Gatot Subroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD), Jakarta, Saturday, at 06.15 WIB.
Rachmawati, whose full name is Diah Pramana Rachmawati Soekarno, is the younger sister of the General Chair of the PDIP DPP Megawati Soekarnoputri. The woman who was born in Jakarta on 27 September 1950 is the daughter of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Soekarno and Fatmawati.
Rachmawati devoted much of herself in the field of education by continuing the teachings of Bung Karno. After the New Order ended, and Indonesia entered the reform era, Rachmawati took part in the world of politics.
He founded the Pioneer Party, which relies on its constituents from young urban marhaenis. The party, which is passionate about marhaeism, promises not to compromise on human rights violators, rejects the dual function of the TNI and Polri and rejects economic dependence on international funding agencies.
In 2007, Rachamawati Soekarnoputri officially resigned as General Chairperson of the Pioneer Party's Central Leadership Council (DPP), because she had been appointed a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres).
Rachmawati Soekarnoputri became a Member of the Presidential Advisory Council for Political Affairs, the Presidential Advisory Council for 2007-2009.
Then in 2012 Rachmawati Soekarnoputri joined the party spearheaded by Surya Paloh, the Nasdem Party. However, Rachmawati only spent 2 years in Nasdem.
After Rachmawati left the Nasdem Party, she decided to join the Gerindra Party, starting from the 2014 Presidential Election.
At that time, the General Chair of the Gerindra Party DPP, Prabowo Subianto, asked Rachmawati to strengthen the Gerindra management structure, and the sister of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri accepted the offer.
At Gerindra, Rachmawati Soekarnoputri was trusted to serve as Deputy Chairperson of the Ideology Division of the Central Executive Board of the Gerindra Party. Finally, he was trusted as Deputy Chair of the Gerindra Party's Board of Trustees.
