Three Months Orbiting On The Space Station, Chinese Astronauts Are Treated With 120 Delicious Dishes

JAKARTA - During their three-month stay in space orbit, the Chinese astronauts Shenzhou 12 were treated to 120 delicious dishes brought from earth. The dishes include black pepper beef and soup.

It is known that Chinese astronauts Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming, and Tang Hongbo arrived at the Tianhe space station on June 17. Now of course they can use the logistics aboard the Tianzhou 2 cargo spacecraft, which was launched on May 29.

Quoted from Space, Saturday, July 3, the space station has 6.8 tons of food supplies sent by Tianzhou 2 containing food and drinks, including tea, juice, and soup. There is also a cooler for storing fresh fruits and vegetables.

China's chief astronaut coach, Huang Weifen, said the food is usually dense, boneless, and served into small pieces to suit the astronauts' personal tastes.

The dishes include garlic sauce with pork flavor, kung pao chicken, black pepper beef, pickled cabbage, and shredded pork.

"We have also equipped the space station with kitchens and microwaves, so astronauts have more methods of heating food than ever before", Huang said.

From a circulating photo, an astronaut is seen drinking from a small bag on the space station. Likewise with astronaut Wang Yaping, who exhibited various food packages in the Tiangong 1 space lab module.

Interestingly, astronauts also use condiments such as pork sauce and Sichuan peppercorn sauce to help adjust for the temporary loss of taste buds in space.

For information, more than 100 special dishes for astronauts have undergone changes and continue to be developed by the Bamboo Curtain Country over the years. This was done to support the success of their long mission project.
