NOC Indonesia Is Committed To Guarding The Olympic Training Center During The Implementation Of Emergency PPKM

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) has promised to fight for the smooth running of the national training center (pelatnas) during the Emergency PPKM which will be implemented from July 3-20. This non-governmental organization led by Raja Sapta Oktohari is fully committed to the smooth preparation of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“Right now what is really worried about is the crowd. The Minister of Youth and Sports has previously said that the national training athletes can carry out training activities because they are few in number. I think the national training activities can be tolerated, especially for the preparation for the Olympics. If athletes don't practice, their performance will decrease,” Secretary General of NOC Indonesia Ferry J Kono said in an official statement received by VOI, Friday, July 2.

A total of 28 athletes from eight sports (sports) will compete in the world's most prestigious multi-sport event which will be held from 23 July to 8 August.

Five of them are practicing at the GBK Complex, namely athletics, swimming, shooting, archery, and two weightlifting lifters. Badminton is practiced at PP PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, Weightlifting Training Center in Kwini, rowing in Canning, and surfing in Bali.

For athletes who train in the GBK area, said Ferry, NOC Indonesia will ask PPKGBK to facilitate because this is in the interest of Indonesian sports achievements. Likewise for those who practice in Bali.

On the other hand, NOC Indonesia is also finalizing the concept of the inauguration and release of the Indonesian team in an Emergency PPKM situation. NOC Indonesia, said Ferry, is also coordinating with the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding this matter.

The inauguration and release of the Indonesian team led by Chef de Mission Rosan P Roeslani is scheduled to take place on July 5. This date was taken considering that the Indonesian badminton team will leave first to undergo a training camp in Kumamoto, Japan.

“The inauguration was carried out by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Zainudin Amali). Furthermore, if the President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo) is pleased, we hope that he can release the Indonesian contingent. However, we will respect any decision from the President, given the current situation in Jakarta and its surroundings regarding COVID-19," said Ferry.

Whatever the concept, he continued, the most important thing is not to reduce the essence of confirmation and release.

"The Indonesian contingent asks for the blessing of the President and the entire Indonesian people for the athletes who will perform in Tokyo so that their motivation can increase to penetrate the limits they have," concluded Ferry.
