Apparatus Requested To Discipline Residents More Strictly During PPKM Emergency

JAKARTA - Chairman of the MPR Bambang Soesatyo asked the government and the apparatus to be more assertive in the application of discipline during the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java and Bali from 3-20 July.

"I ask the central government and regional governments together with the apparatus so that in the implementation of the Emergency PPKM, discipline enforcement efforts will be carried out more firmly and not selectively, as well as providing social security for economically affected residents during the Emergency PPKM," said Bamsoet, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 1st.

He asked the government to immediately finalize the Emergency PPKM plan to deal with the surge in COVID-19 transmission.

In addition, according to him, every regional head can prepare everything to implement the Emergency PPKM policy. He hoped that the Emergency PPKM could effectively limit the mobility of the population as expected for two weeks, especially in areas with a high spike in cases.

Bamsoet also asked the government to continue to ensure the availability of health care facilities for COVID-19 patients, including by ensuring the availability of treatment rooms in health facilities, isolation facilities for patients with asymptomatic status (OTG), guarantees for the availability of medical devices, personal protective equipment, medical oxygen supply, as well as necessary medicines.

"Given that, in the midst of a surge in cases, currently the health facilities that handle COVID-19 have almost collapsed," said Bamsoet.

He also proposed to the central government and local governments to reconsider the implementation of the Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) policy as at the beginning of the pandemic, in addition to imposing Emergency PPKM, for all provinces outside Java for a minimum of three weeks.

"Considering, this method is considered effective in restraining the spike in transmission of COVID-19," he said.
