The Beginning Of The Discovery Of A Marijuana Field In Gunung Leuser From Case Disclosure

JAKARTA - The National Police said that the discovery of 7 hectares of marijuana fields in Gunung Leuser, Beutong Ateuh Regency, Aceh, started with two disclosures of narcotics trafficking cases. This circulation is masterminded by inter-provincial network actors.

"The cannabis suppliers and collectors of the Aceh-Medan-Palembang-Jakarta-Bogor network. The results of the development of the case led investigators to find 7 hectares of marijuana fields," said Deputy Director of Narcotics Crime at the National Police, Kombes Jayadi, in his statement, Thursday, June 1.

In the first disclosure, the police thwarted an attempt to smuggle 223.95 kilograms of marijuana. The case came to light on June 9.

"Officers found evidence of 198 packs of marijuana weighing 223.95 kilograms," Jayadi said.

After that, the investigation was carried out until on June 24 the police arrested 4 suspects with evidence of 280 packets of marijuana weighing 3,044.60 kilograms.

"The suspects have the initials IB (42), IS alias UC (44), MA (35), and RD (37). From the examination, investigators found that the suspects had marijuana fields," said Jayadi.

From the statements of the suspects, the police searched Gunung Leuser. Until finally found a marijuana field covering an area of 7 hectares.

"The team then searched the Gunung Leuser area and found a seven-hectare marijuana field in the Beutong Ateuh Banggalang area, Ateuh Banggalan Regency, Nagan Raya Regency," he said.

Based on data collection, the marijuana field can produce 630 thousand dried marijuana stems with an estimated weight of 210.529 tons. This marijuana field was immediately destroyed.

"Furthermore, the cannabis fields were destroyed by removing the cannabis trees, then burning them," Jayadi said.

Previously reported, the Criminal Investigation Police found a five-hectare marijuana field in the Singgah Mata Mountains area, Beutong Ateuh District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh.

"The discovery of more than five hectares of marijuana fields in Nagan Raya is after the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency personnel developed a marijuana distribution case," said Nagan Raya Police Chief AKBP Risno.

According to him, in this discovery, the police have arrested a number of suspects who are suspected to be related to the possession of marijuana fields in this area.

"Currently the team is still at the location of the marijuana field in the forest area around the mountains," said Risno.
