Extortion At Kali Pahit Bondowoso Tourist Attractions, This Man Earns IDR 27 Million

BONDOWOSO - Bambang Sugiyanto was arrested by the Saber Extortion Team in Bondowoso Regency, East Java. Bambang made illegal levies at the Kali Pahit tourist attraction.

The perpetrators charge entrance fees for tourist objects. Even though there has been no entry tariff set by the BKSDA Region III Jember as the guardian of the area.

The Bondowoso Police Chief, AKBP Herman Priyanto, said the perpetrators had been making illegal levies six months ago. Based on the perpetrator's confession so far, around Rp. 27 million has been collected from the proceeds of levies on entrance fees for tourist attractions in Bitter River.

Every day, Bambang charges an entrance fee of around Rp. 3,000 to Rp. 5,000.

"If visitors do not pay, then the perpetrators will not be allowed to enter. In a day, Bambang can collect up to Rp. 300 thousand. On weekends, he can get more," said AKBP Herman in a written statement, Thursday, July 1.

Currently, the perpetrators are being detained by the Bondowoso Police Headquarters to undergo a legal process. During the arrest, the police confiscated Rp265,000 as evidence.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bondowoso Police, AKP Agung Ari Bowo, said that his party was examining a number of witnesses in this extortion case.

"We are asking for witness statements," he said.

The perpetrator was charged with Article 368 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code Subs Article 335 paragraph (1) to 1. "If the threat is 1 year in prison," he explained.
