PDIP: Strengthening National Gotong Royong To Fight COVID-19
JAKARTA - PDI Perjuangan hopes that Eid Al-Fitr will further strengthen mutual cooperation in the community to face the COVID-19 pandemic. The party believes this can be done by the community because for a whole month, Muslims have been fasting in an atmosphere full of concern and simplicity.
"The month-long fasting carried out by Muslims has become a spiritual fortress that galvanizes the body and soul of the Indonesian nation, and on this Eid Al-Fitr day we are strengthening national mutual cooperation to fight the corona virus," said PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto in a written statement, Sunday, May 24.
Moreover, Hasto continued, history has proven that Eid al-Fitr in Indonesia has succeeded in uniting all existing traditions and cultures. "By Bung Karno and Kiai Haji Wahab Chasbullah, Eid Al-Fitr became a momentum to carry out halalbihalal, a momentum to build a national brotherhood that unites political elites from conflict, and the momentum of togetherness of the people," he said.
"Now Eid Al-Fitr has arrived as a nation's celebration full of religious and cultural messages," he added.
On that occasion, Hasto also explained, Baitul Muslimin PDIP had also carried out Noran Bamusi during the fasting month yesterday. This study discusses Bung Karno's message about Islam.
Meanwhile, in the midst of a pandemic like now, he said, PDI-P Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri is still gathering with her extended family.
"Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri gathered with her children and fulfilled all government regulations regarding the COVID-19 prevention protocol," he concluded.
