Minister Of Religion Yaqut Appreciates Erick Thohir Overcoming Pandemic: I Didn't Expect Hajj Dormitory To Become A Place For Isolation Of COVID-19 Patients

JAKARTA - The Minister of Religion who is also the General Chair of PP GP Ansor Yaqut Cholil Qoumas appreciates the performance and quick efforts of the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

Yaqut said he was amazed by the leadership spirit of Erick, who moved quickly to bring in vaccines and took the initiative to make the Hajj hostel an emergency hospital for COVID-19 patients.

He admitted that he never thought of making the Hajj dormitory as an emergency hospital for COVID-19 patients and only thought that the Hajj dormitory could be a place of self-isolation for COVID-19 patients.

"But Mr. Erick called me, we made it an emergency hospital, I immediately agreed and ordered the ranks to prepare the hajj dormitory to become an emergency hospital. If not (the soul) of the leader cannot, thank you Mr. Erick for being an inspiration to all of us," said Yaqut in his official statement, quoted from Antara, Thursday, July 1.

According to the Minister of Religion, the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) has 31 hajj dormitories, four of which are under renovation.

SOE Minister Erick Thohir praised Yaqut back. Erick said that Yaqut was the only minister who was called Gusmen (Gus Minister). Erick Thohir assessed Yaqut as an extraordinary figure who was able to make breakthroughs in a short time at the Ministry of Religion.

"I believe in our hearts that we must protect Indonesia and he is the right figure when he was initially assigned as president. I see that his breakthrough was indeed in favor of Bhineka Live Ika, so we must appreciate it," said Erick Thohir.
