Sergio Ramos Removes Real Madrid From His Social Media Profiles

JAKARTA - The departure of Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid is official. However, it was only on Wednesday night that the defender deleted his ties to the capital club on social media.

The experienced player with a myriad of trophies removed references to Real Madrid from his social media profiles.

“Football player and Unicef ambassador,” is the new description in his Twitter bio, for example.

He has also added "heart", "character" and "passion" values.

Ramos removed references to Real Madrid from his social media profiles.

Until this news was written, Ramos still appears to be listed as a member of the main squad on the official Real Madrid website.

But it looks like that could soon change, as his contract officially expires on Thursday morning.

Ramos ended his service for the last 16 years at the Spanish capital club.

The 35-year-old defender won 22 trophies for Real Madrid, since being bought for 27 million euros from Sevilla in 2005, which at the time broke the record for most expensive defender transfers in Spain.

Despite playing at defender, Ramos has been relatively prolific with 101 goals in 671 appearances for Real Madrid and has assumed the captain's armband since 2015 following the departure of goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Ramos' last season ended with Los Blancos not winning any titles, and he himself had some injuries so often that he was left out by Luis Enrique from Spain's final squad for the ongoing Euro 2020.
