Police: There Are Provocateurs Who Take Advantage Of The Habib Umar And Satpol PP Cases

JAKARTA - Photos circulating on social media showing a feud between a man dressed in a white robe and a Satpol PP officer. Later, the dispute was sparked because he did not receive a warning regarding the Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) regulation.

The photo uploaded by the @ustadtengkuzul twitter account said that Satpol PP officers were overreacting when reprimanding by violence or being kicked. Later, the man with a white color was a religious leader in Pasuruan, East Java, Habib Umar Assegaf.

The incident started when officers stopped the car that Habib Umar was carrying at the checkpoint at the Bundaran Satelit toll exit point, Surabaya. The number of passengers in the car exceeded the capacity of the PSBB regulations and the driver was not wearing a mask, so the officers questioned him.

But Habib Umar did not accept it and got out of his car. Checking with officers cannot be avoided. Even Habib Umar was involved in a scuffle with Satpol PP officers at the location.

East Java Regional Police Head of Public Relations Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said, based on the results of the investigation, there were parties who deliberately took advantage of the incident to worsen the situation. Thus, cyber investigators are tracing the playing party.

"There are several third parties who have taken advantage of this situation to confuse, hitchhike, piggyback on these incidents," Trunoyudo said in his statement, Friday, May 22.

In fact, continued Trunoyudo, the provocateurs or third parties had nothing to do with the incident. In fact, content that has a provocative element is already circulating.

So, to investigate it thoroughly, his party will conduct an in-depth investigation if such content is found.

"We will look at content that is hate speech, sara, provocation and then this fake news has started a lot. Of course this is part of our investigation," said Trunoyudo.

Society must obey

Although he did not explain in detail about the incidents of the feud, Trunoyudo emphasized that the public must obey all the regulations issued by the government. Moreover, the PSBB regulations aim to break the chain of spreading COVID-19.

"Society needs discipline and awareness," said Trunoyudo.

Meanwhile, on the officer side, an evaluation related to how to deal with the community will be carried out. This is intended so that no similar cases will occur again. Remembering the PSBB rules is a step for the common good.

"This means that all that is happening is aimed at saving the community as well as their families and other communities," said Trunoyudo.

In relation to the dispute, the two parties have decided not to continue the matter in the criminal realm. They choose to make peace and forgive each other because this problem is only caused by misunderstanding.

"There was no police report. Actually, both parties have stated to forgive each other, yes, the hope is also unconditional," concluded Trunoyudo.
