Drug Eradication Operation, North Sumatra Police Confiscate 412 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine-arrest 64 Suspects

MEDAN - The North Sumatran Police team confiscated 412.96 kg of crystal methamphetamine in operations to combat drugs from April to June 15.

The North Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Panca Putra, said that hundreds of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were confiscated from 35 cases with 64 suspects.

"With the number that we have revealed from the 35 cases, there are seven major cases being handled at the North Sumatra Police," said Inspector General Panca at the North Sumatra Police Headquarters, Tuesday, June 29.

Seven cases handled by the North Sumatra Police were processed with 242.34 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine as evidence. There were 20 suspects arrested. In fact, 11 of them are members of the National Police.

"I must state clearly that we are not only taking action against the users and dealers. But whoever is involved," said Inspector General Panca.

The North Sumatra Police also confiscated 54,614 ecstasy pills from 35 cases that were revealed. Of this number, 48,418 ecstasy pills are evidence of seven cases of drug trafficking disclosure handled by the North Sumatra Police.

"There is also 674 grams of marijuana. This is not too much but it is still a concern for us all," said Inspector General Panca.

The disclosure process on April 27 Medan-Banda Aceh was carried out by securing the suspect SY who was carrying 35 kg of methamphetamine.

On April 30, 2021 at Jalinsum Asahan officers confiscated 51 kg of crystal methamphetamine and on June 8 arrested the suspect DS on Jalan Tanjungbalai with 20 kg of evidence.

Not only that, Inspector General Panca said that on June 15, officers arrested two suspects MF and MUS for storing 69 kg of crystal methamphetamine.

"From the four cases of drug trafficking in the Aceh network that I described, evidence of two long-barreled weapons and several rounds of ammunition were also confiscated," he admitted.

For the case of methamphetamine weighing 57 kg without a owner in Tanjungbalai waters, officers arrested two suspects with the initials HS and SU. During the investigation, the two suspects made transactions using small boats with a reward of Rp. 200 million.

"After we re-investigate it turns out that the evidence weighs 80 kg and based on the deepening there is an alleged involvement of unscrupulous members in the circulation of drugs," he said.
