Allegedly Defaming, USU Professor Becomes Suspect In ITE Case
MEDAN - Professor of the USU Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Yusuf Henuk, has been named by the North Tapanuli Police (Taput) as a suspect. Prof. Henuk is involved in the ITE Law case.
Henuk is suspected of defaming the good names of the reporters, Alfredo Sihombing and Martua Sitomorang.
Head of the Taput Police Public Relations Subdivision, Aiptu Walpon Baringbing said the report related to Henuk was received on May 17. The reporter, Martua Sitomorang, objected to Yusuf Leonard Henuk's Facebook post, which was allegedly defamed in the Facebook comment column.
Meanwhile, on April 22, a second reporter named Alfredo also reported Henuk to the Taput Police. He objected to Henuk's post on Facebook which was also considered defamatory.
From this report, the police conducted an investigation. The police found sufficient preliminary evidence to establish Henuk as a suspect.
"From the results of the case title, the investigators and the participants have concluded that they should increase the investigation into an investigation and designate Professor Yusuf Leonard Henuk as a suspect," said Walpon, Tuesday, June 29.
In addition, the police also asked for expert testimony in handling this case.
"They are linguists, ITE experts, and criminal experts," he said
Prof Henuk was charged with Article 27 paragraph (3) Jo 45 paragraph (3) of the ITE Law. According to Walpon, Henuk also had time to report back to the reporter.
"There is not enough evidence of an alleged criminal act which is also corroborated by the statements of ITE expert witnesses and linguists as well as conclusions from the results of cases that have been carried out," he said
