Bad News From Gunung Kidul, COVID-19 Cases Break New Record, 9 Died

JAKARTA - Positive COVID-19 patients in Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, added 276 new cases or broke the record for daily additions during the pandemic since March 2020.

"Today, the change in the COVID-19 situation in Gunung Kidul, with 276 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and nine deaths." said Head of the Gunung Kidul Health Service, Dewi Irawaty in Gunung Kidul, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, June 29.

The number of additional COVID-19 cases in Gunung Kidul was high, at 242 cases on Friday, June 25. The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region is 6,184 with details of 3,925 recovering, 2,009 in treatment, and 250 deaths.

"We urge the public to adhere to health protocols properly, namely wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining distance. If necessary, do not travel if it is not urgent," he appealed.

Meanwhile, the monitoring control team and law enforcement for the discipline of the COVID-19 health protocol in Gunung Kidul Regency intensified the socialization of appeals to the public, especially to improve the discipline of health protocols.

Coordinator of the Head of Regional Regulation Enforcement of the Gunung Kidul Satpol PP, Sutrisno, said that the appeal was made through loudspeakers but also directly targeted residents to provide masks. Many people were found not wearing masks, this is proof that public participation in the discipline of health protocols is decreasing.

"We will intensify this socialization in the next few days until the situation is under control and public awareness and discipline returns to good," he said.
