JAKARTA - Chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, welcomed the round table cooperation between the United Russia Party and political parties from ASEAN countries. He stated that this forum was very useful for multilateral networks in building more intensive cooperation.
"It is an honor for us to meet at this event which has an impact on state relations in strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation," said Airlangga in his virtual speech from the Golkar Party DPP office, Tuesday 29 June.
The virtual meeting with the theme “The Role of Responsible Political Powers Russia and ASEAN Countries in Strengthening the Architecture of Security and Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region” also commemorates the 25th anniversary of relations between Russia and ASEAN.
This forum is part of the ASEAN-Russia dialogue that has been going on since 1996. The round table between ASEAN political parties and the United Russia party will be part of the bilateral relationship between ASEAN countries where political parties will be more effective in implementing regulatory cooperation.
In a virtual meeting attended by the Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev, Airlangga Hartarto stated that Indonesia has close relations with several ASEAN countries that are members of this forum as a regional community. Including very close cooperation in the fields of trade and political diplomacy.
Airlangga also stated that the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Russia has strategic value. Russia is one of the world powers that influences economic growth and development. The long-standing cooperation between Indonesia and Russia is able to support the economic stability of the two countries.
"For this reason, the expansion of cooperation through multilateral forums is very necessary in order to support the economic stability of regional countries that have an impact on Indonesia and the surrounding region," said Airlangga.
In realizing the ease of investing in Indonesia, the government has made an Omnibus law regulation, the Job Creation Law. “This regulation is a Golkar initiative to provide ease of doing business. We invite you to invest in various fields that are not only for Indonesia's economic growth but also to increase regional growth as well as our partners," said Airlangga Hartarto.

COVID-19 VaccineResponding to the momentum of economic recovery after COVID-19 which has the potential to reopen the open market with Russia, Airlangga hopes that ASEAN countries through political parties can become part of the bridge of bilateral relations.
"For Indonesia, various policies related to economic recovery have been prepared through regulations to accelerate economic recovery, such as PEN and the Omnibus law to accelerate and facilitate investment," said Airlangga.
Russia's role is highly expected in unlocking investment potential in Indonesia. However, Airlangga also invited fellow ASEAN countries to work together in realizing regional economic resilience in the face of COVID-19.
Regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, Indonesia appreciates the Sputnik V vaccine which is part of the solution to handling COVID-19. He hopes for closer cooperation. Not only related to the distribution of vaccines but also the cooperation in vaccine production between the pharmaceutical-pharmaceutical industries in various countries and Sputnik V Russia in the Joint Production program.
“I hope that this round table will not only become a forum for cooperation between regional countries, but also a forum that can contribute to prosperity, security and stability between ASEAN and Russia. And can contribute to the exchange of views between political parties in ASEAN," said Airlangga.
Finally, Airlangga also introduced the Golkar Institute as an institution that will become a forum for studying various fields of public policy in order to prepare cadres to adapt to various changes and have intellectual insight in carrying out policies.
