BEM UI Still Considering Reporting Hacking, Prioritize Member Safety
JAKARTA - The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the University of Indonesia (UI) has not decided to make a report on the hacking of social media accounts. Previously, the Police had invited BEM UI to report the hack after there was a lot of discussion about the Jokowi King of Lip Service.
"(We) haven't decided (to make a police report or not)," said Head of BEM UI Leon Alvinda Putra to VOI, Tuesday, June 29.
BEM UI currently prioritizes the security of BEM UI members. Because, said Leon, previously there was a digital attack experienced by its members.
However, Leon refused to clearly explain the form of the digital attack. Leon stressed that at this time the safety of his members was more important than making a report.
"We are still prioritizing the safety of BEM UI members who received a digital attack yesterday," he said.
Previously, the National Police invited the BEM UI management to make a police report (LP). This was in the aftermath of the alleged hacking of BEM UI's social media accounts after criticizing President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"Please report," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono.
However, Argo did not comment further on the alleged cyber crime. He only emphasized that anyone who feels they are a victim of a criminal act should report it to law enforcement officials.
