Defense University To Collaborate With Various Parties To Research Ivermectin

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Defense University (IDU) will cooperate with various parties to conduct research on the effectiveness of Ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19.

"This research collaboration is a form of contribution to the government in efforts to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic," said a press release from the Defense University received in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Tuesday, June 29.

Lecturers from the Faculty of Military Medicine and the Faculty of Military Pharmacy form a joint research team under the control of the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (Ka LP2M) Major General Joni Wijayanto.

It was stated that for the last 1 month, the Indonesian Defense University has been trying to develop a research protocol in order to meet the standards set by the Ministry of Health, the Republic of Indonesia and the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).

Several alternative protocols are currently being evaluated internally by LPPM before they can be submitted to the Health Ethics Commission.

As previously reported, PT Harsen will cooperate with the Indonesian Defense University.

In accordance with the progress made by the Indonesian Defense University, the signing of the MoU and PKS with PT Harsen can only be held if the Ethical Clearance has been obtained from the Health Ethics Commission and the Approval for the Implementation of Clinical Trials (PPUK) from BPOM.

Some of the successful uses of Ivermectin in several countries are currently still the focus of the study by the Research Team from the Indonesian Defense University in order to obtain a higher level of validation.

In addition to Ivermectin, several other research alternatives were also studied in parallel with PT Indofarma, PT Kimia Farma and PT Biofarma.

The Indonesian Defense University has also held several webinars and Round Table Discussions (RTD) with various international institutions to examine several alternatives according to WHO standards.
