TNI Adds 400 Health Workers To Help Accelerate Vaccination In Jakarta

JAKARTA - The TNI has again deployed 400 health workers to help accelerate the COVID-19 vaccination in Jakarta.

This addition was made after previously there were 176 special officer students for TNI health workers who were imported from Magelang, Central Java, to Jakarta, Monday, June 28.

"The TNI yesterday (28/6) had sent 176 health workers, including doctors and we also added 400. So there are approximately 600 health workers that we have deployed in the Jabodetabek area", said TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, after reviewing the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination at JIExpo Kemayoran, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 29.

The deployment of health workers to help accelerate COVID-19 vaccination in Jakarta. This step is a follow-up to two TNI strategies to assist the government in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The strategy to control COVID-19 is (implementation in) the field. There are two fields, the first is the implementation of Micro PPKM based on RT/RW (Neighborhood Association/Citizens Association). Second is the acceleration of vaccination", said the Commander during a press conference with the National Police Chief Gen. Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and representatives of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

Regarding the Implementation of Micro-Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), the Commander explained that members of the TNI had been deployed to assist the government's efforts to track, examine, and treat patients and suspected COVID-19.

“Of course, to be able to carry out according to the target, it is necessary to thicken it in each district, because (PPKM Mikro) is based on RT and RW. We have also done that by sending health workers to strengthen district areas. The personnel is from the TNI and Police", said Hadi Tjahjanto.

Meanwhile, related to the strategy of accelerating vaccination, there are around 8,300 vaccination points throughout Indonesia that will be assisted by the TNI.

“We have mapped several places in Indonesia. There are more or less for the TNI itself, 8,300 places are regular ones (for the general public, ed)", said the Commander.

Of the thousands of places, one of them is the COVID-19 vaccination center at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The Commander stressed that the TNI is ready to meet the target given by the government to vaccinate 200,000 people every day.

"The target given by the Minister of Health (ed) is that one day the TNI must be able to carry out 200,000 vaccinations in all regions. The police are also 200,000 so that 400,000 are carried out by the TNI and Polri every day. 600,000 will be carried out by a joint effort of local governments and health workers", said the Commander.
