Deputy Rector Of The BRI Wakomut Department, Said Didu: Violating The UI Statute, Embarrassing Ree

JAKARTA - The Chancellor of the University of Indonesia (UI) Ari Kuncoro is considered to have violated the UI Statute because he also serves as Deputy President Commissioner of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI).

Former Secretary to the Minister of SOEs, Said Didu explained that the statute is equivalent to a constitution in universities that must be obeyed.

He stated that Article 35 letter c, PP 68/2013 regarding the UI Statute prohibits the chancellor and vice chancellor from concurrently serving as officials in state/regional or private-owned enterprises.

"Well, what I read about the UI statutes is very clearly written that they cannot hold concurrent positions. One of them is not allowed to hold concurrent positions in BUMN, BUMD, privately-owned enterprises. It is very clearly written in the UI statutes," Said Didu said in a conversation with Hersubeno Arief in the video released uploaded on MSD's YouTube account, Tuesday, 29 June.

Said revealed that Adi Kuncoro had been a commissioner for a long time. In fact, he said, before becoming the Deputy President Commissioner of BRI, Ari had also been the President Commissioner of BNI.

"So the commissioner has actually been a long time. It means, this has clearly violated the statutes," he said.

Said Didu regretted that this rule violation occurred at the UI rectorate. In addition, the Board of Trustees, according to him, seemed to be silent.

"In my opinion, this is a very clear violation and if a violation like this happens and is allowed to happen, especially by the rector of the best university in Indonesia, it is very shameful," he said.

Said assessed that one of the things that must be done is to take action, namely to dismiss the UI rector or, in question, choose to resign from the position of deputy commissioner of BRI.

"Because the appointment is illegal, all the income he earns must be returned. This is the first time the rector wants to become a commissioner before no one wants to. The rector has a lot of prestige, the same as a minister. Do you want to be a commissioner? Downgrade!," concluded Said Didu.
