MotoGP Riders Hit The Catalunya Circuit After 2 Months Of Lockdown

JAKARTA - A number of MotoGP riders returned to training on the track after the Spanish government relaxed the lockdown rules. The Barcelona-Catalunya circuit re-opened after two months but still adheres to health protocols from the local government.

Alex Rins from the Suzuki Ecstar team, along with Moto2 riders from the Petronas Sprinta Racing team Xavi Vierge, and Gabriel Rodrigo from the Moto3 Kommerling Gresini team are some of the riders who have tried out the track in Montmelo. They bulldozed the 4.6 km track on Thursday.

Launching the official MotoGP page, this week, riders from every class have returned to racing, especially those living around Spain and Andorra such as the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team riders Maverick Vinales and Pol Espargaro from the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team who have also trained this week. .

The Pas de la Casa Andorra circuit, which lies on the border of Spain and France, on Wednesday last week opened its karting track facility for use by a number of MotoGP stars and professional motorbike riders to train.

Meanwhile Italy has also relaxed their territorial restrictions so that MotoGP riders like Valentino Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso can return to training on the track.

After two months of quarantine, Rossi has now opened his motorbike in Tavullia, where he can race on the dirt circuit with Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT) and Luca Marini (SKY Racing Team VR46).

Meanwhile, the duet of Ducati riders Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci returned to racing together again, after the last time they both underwent the Qatar test. This time on the motocross track at Crossdromo Monte Coralli, which is not far from the city of Feanza, Italy.

Other Italian riders such as Michele Pirro, Enea Bastianini and Nicolo Bulega returned to training last week at the Misano Circuit in San Marino, which has reopened after two months of lockdown.
