Police Explanation About The Actions Of Motorists Breaking The Blockade In Bandung
JAKARTA - A video showing a number of motorcyclists breaking through a blockade in Bandung City, West Java has gone viral on social media.
Head of the Bandung Polrestabes Traffic Unit, AKBP Rano Hadiyanto, explained that the incident occurred on Saturday, June 26 on Jalan Aceh or precisely at Simpang Merdeka-Aceh, Bandung. According to him, this happened because the drivers claimed to be bringing the victims of the clash to the hospital.
"One of the representatives from the motorcycle group also came to our officers and then our officers asked what was going on? Then one of the representatives answered that the group had brought one of the victims from the clash," said Rano as quoted by Antara, Monday, June 28.
Later, Rano explained, the motorcycle group was known to be one of the community organizations (ormas) groups in Bandung.
When representatives from mass organizations and one member of the police had a dialogue, according to him, the rest of the group couldn't wait to open the water barrier that blocked the road.
"Because the condition of the barrier was tied, the group wanted to open the barrier, so the barrier eventually fell," he said.
According to Rano, they said they were going to the nearest hospital. After the group of motorbikes passed, Rano made sure the officers closed the road again.
"Furthermore, of course, we will delegate this problem to the Criminal Investigation function to take the next steps," said Rano.
Meanwhile, every weekend, dozens of highway points in Bandung are closed since noon to reduce community mobility.
Regarding the action, Rano said that for people who have urgent needs and have to cross a closed road, please communicate with the officers at the location.
"Don't hesitate to report to the officers at the location, lest there be unethical actions," he said.
