Journalists In Binjai Almost Become Victims Of Murder, 4 Perpetrators Arrested By Police
MEDAN - Local media journalist in Binjai City, North Sumatra, Sahzara Sopian almost became the victim of an attempted murder. It is suspected that someone hired a hitman to kill him.
The Head of Public Relations of the Binjai Police, AKP Siswanto Ginting, said the police managed to arrest 4 perpetrators. The four perpetrators are MD Sinulingga alias Takur, Iqbal, Anto and Agi.
The trial event occurred on Friday, June 25 Afternoon. Precisely at a cafe on Hasanuddin Street, Kartini Village, Binjai District, Binjai City.
"(The victim) of compassion was suddenly approached by the suspect MD Sinulingga alias Takur and friends. Then one of the perpetrators took a knife that was tucked in his front pants and walked over to the victim," said Siswanto in his statement, Monday, June 28.
At that time, the suspect's actions were known to cafe visitors. They then blocked the suspect's actions.
"People who were around the cafe secured the perpetrator," he said.
At the same time, Siswanto said, the victim contacted the police, who then rushed to the scene. There the suspects were arrested.
They also admitted that someone was ordered to kill the victim.
"From the results of the examination of the suspect, it is true that the suspects MD alias Takur and Anto have received payments from Rasel's (fugitive) brother to kill the victim Sahzara Sopian," he said.
However, regarding the motive, and the amount of payment they received, the police are still investigating.
"This case is still being investigated by the Binjai Police Satreskrim," he said.
For the actions of the perpetrators, Siswanto explained that the suspects were subject to Article 340 of the Criminal Code.
