Copa America 2021: Brazil's Squad Held To A 1-1 Draw With Ecuador

JAKARTA - Brazil were surprisingly forced to a 1-1 draw by Ecuador in the fourth match of Group B of the 2021 Copa America at the Estadio Olimpico Pedro Ludovico on Monday, 28 June morning.

Reported by Antara from the official FIFA website, Brazil, which has definitely qualified for the quarter-finals as group winners, lowered its backing squad.

Ecuador in this match need a win to be able to continue to advance. The visitors almost got a goal in the 11th minute when Enner Valencia's shot bounced over the Brazil goal, which was already without Alisson Becker's control.

Brazil made a threat in the 20th minute. Lucas Paqueta's breakthrough bait ball was met by Gabriel Barbosa's kick which led to the goal, but was still blocked by opposing goalkeeper Hernan Galindez.

The Selecao were able to lead 1-0 until halftime through Eder Militao's goal. The Real Madrid defender scored a goal after welcoming the ball from an Everton Soares free shot.

Ecuador immediately step on the gas since the beginning of the second half. They managed to score an equalizer in the 53rd minute through Angel Mena after welcoming a header from Valencia. The score is 1-1.

The tempo of the match was not too high after the position was balanced. Brazil still had several threats, but still did not produce a goal.

The 1-1 score was enough to deliver Ecuador to the quarter-finals. This lucky fate was accompanied by Venezuela's 0-1 defeat against Peru due to Andre Carrillo's goal in the 48th minute.

Peru is in second place behind Brazil. Colombia ranks third and is followed by Ecuador.
