Trade Minister Lutfi Ensures Stable Food Prices Ahead Of Eid Al-Fitr: God Willing, The Stock Is Also Guaranteed

JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Muhammad Lutfi ensures that the prices of various food or basic necessities are stable and the availability of safe supplies ahead of the Eid al-Adha 1442 Hijri Day.

"Yes, this is one of the national holiday celebrations. We are obliged to maintain it. God willing, the stock is available and guaranteed," explained Lutfi who was met while accompanying SOE Minister Erick Thohir at the Joint Vaccination Center of SOEs, Polonia Airport Medan, North Sumatra, quoted from Between, Saturday 26 June.

Even though the celebration for Muslims is less than a month away, the Trade Minister Lutfi continued, his party is still monitoring the supply availability of a number of basic commodities so that prices remain stable in the market.

He admitted, with the availability of basic necessities and smooth supply from production centers, it could reduce price fluctuations if possible, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"God willing, because the stock is guaranteed, the price is affordable. We don't have any imports and everything is normal. Like rice, our harvest this year is very good. So, I don't count on imports," he asserted.

Meanwhile, for commodities, including sugar, cooking oil, beef, chicken meat and so on, the supply is guaranteed to be maintained.

"Because according to our calculation (production) of granulated sugar this year, it is not worse than the previous year. So, everything should be safe," said Minister Lutfi.
