Ambitious, 1 Million Vaccinations Have Not Been Achieved, Jokowi Has Given A Target Of 2 Million Doses Per Day In August

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has set a target for all local governments to intensify COVID-19 vaccinations. In fact, Jokowi gave a vaccination target in August to reach two million doses per day.

In fact, previously Jokowi had set a target of one million doses per day. However, vaccination on a national scale per day has only targeted 650 thousand people.

However, Jokowi is optimistic that it can be achieved. This is because all regions are starting to hold mass COVID-19 vaccinations.

“Today, we are grateful that we can carry out mass vaccinations throughout the country from Sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote Island. Indeed, today's target is one million vaccines for the people, which we hope will continue to reach in July and in August our target will be two million vaccines," said Jokowi while reviewing mass vaccinations at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) South Jakarta, Saturday, June 26.

Jokowi also held online video conferences with the Kapolda and Pangdam Jaya in a number of provinces such as Central Java, North Sumatra, South Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, Maluku, East Java, to Bali.

This video conference was held directly at the mass vaccination locations he visited, such as GBK and Bhayangkara Field, National Police Headquarters, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

In the videoconference, Jokowi gave a target for each region to start doubling vaccinations in early July, from what is currently being done. All Kapolda and Pangdam Jaya agreed to Jokowi's wish.

In addition, Jokowi also instructed the TNI-Polri ranks to participate in the success of the vaccination program while maintaining public discipline in implementing health protocols.

"I entrust it to the ranks of the TNI and Polri, Kodam, Polda, so that together with the regional government they will participate in disciplining the public in implementing health protocols, especially wearing masks, especially maintaining distance. Field actions, field steps in the context of discipline are very important," he said.
