Jokowi Challenges Regions To Double Vaccination Coverage, Central Java And North Sumatra Police Chiefs: Yes Sir!

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reviewed the implementation of the mass COVID-19 vaccination at Bhayangkara Field, National Police Headquarters, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

On that occasion, Jokowi also held a video conference with the Regional Police of all provinces. First, the Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol Ahmad Lutfi reported on mass vaccination activities in his province.

"Today it has been carried out simultaneously in 35 police stations at 340 points. The Central Java Regional Police received 141,000 doses of vaccine and this is completely divided, starting at 8 to 5 pm," Lutfi said in his report to Jokowi, Saturday, June 26.

Responding to this, Jokowi then challenged Lutfi to increase vaccination coverage to double the previous one.

"Vaccination 141 thousand in one day, if you increase it to twice, can you not?" asked Jokowi.

"Yes. Yes, sir," answered Lutfi.

Jokowi then asked Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin to immediately prepare for the distribution of more COVID-19 vaccines to all regions.

After that, Jokowi then asked for a report from the North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Pol Panca Putra. Panca explained that currently mass vaccination is being carried out at 28 line police stations at 146 points. On this day, North Sumatra received 66,790 people who carried out mass vaccinations.

"If today's activities continue, then July 1 will be doubled, can it be done," Jokowi asked.

"Yes, Mr President," answered Panca.

Jokowi also did the same thing to the Kapolda of South Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, and Maluku. After conducting the video conference, Jokowi reminded the regions about the target of one million doses of vaccination per day.

"I hope that starting today, we will continue to maintain the target of one million vaccines for all of Indonesia, until later in July. Later, in August we will give the target twice the current one," Jokowi explained.

As of June 25, 2021, there have been 25,482,036 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 12,912,623 the second dose of vaccination. Meanwhile, the total target of vaccination stages 1 and 2 reached 40,349,049 people.
