Worried About New Clusters, House Leaders Remind Don't Bring The 2021 Euro Cup

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad reminded all parties not to hold a viewing together (Nobar) of the European Cup or Euro Cup 2020 football tournament, which has entered the round of 16.

Dasco recommends that football fans simply watch the match at home to avoid crowds. Considering the number of the spread of the COVID-19 virus which continues to increase and is increasingly worrying.

"I remind all people not to get infected with the euphoria of the European Cup by doing a show. Just watch it at home. Remember, the COVID-19 graph is very high," Dasco told reporters, Friday, June 25.

The coordinator of the House of Representatives' COVID-19 Countermeasures Task Force asked local officials and bureaucrats to continue to aggressively carry out patrols to anticipate the European Cup. Because, he did not want a new cluster with the European Cup celebrations which are often held in residential areas and cafes.

"And I ask all levels of society to have common awareness in tackling the COVID-19 outbreak," said the member of Commission III of the DPR.

The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party understands that the football event is a positive thing in maintaining social and community values.

However, he said, not for now because the public must also be aware that isolation places and hospitals are full and overwhelmed in handling patients exposed to COVID-19.

"Don't let it happen because of the quarter-finals, so you can't watch the final match because you have to be isolated due to being infected with COVID-19. So, please watch the European Cup at home," concluded Dasco.
