Journalist Shooter In North Sumatra Arrested, Perpetrator Hurt Victim Asks For Money And Drugs At Entertainment Places

MEDAN - Police have uncovered a shooting case that killed the editor-in-chief of local media in Simalungun, North Sumatra, with the initials MSH.

North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General RZ Panca Putra said his party investigated the case by examining 57 witnesses. As a result, the police managed to apprehend 2 perpetrators.

"Based on witness statements and tracing the victim's activities at the last moment as well as from the results of evidence in the form of CCTV and other evidence, we managed to arrest 2 suspects, namely YFP and S," said Inspector General Panca, Thursday, June 24.

The police also seized some evidence. Among other things, 1 unit of air softgun, 1 gun type firearm and 6 bullets.

From the results of the investigation, the North Sumatra Police Chief explained that this murder was based on the pain of the perpetrator with the initials S towards the victim. Because, the victim always reported the rampant circulation of narcotics at his nightclub.

"But the victim also asked for a quota of Rp12 million per month with a daily request of 2 pills (pills). If one item is Rp200 thousand, if two items are Rp400 thousand, it means that if you multiply by 30 (so) Rp12 million," explained Panca.

"So because the news made by the victim to brother S caused heartache, especially S could not run his business," continued the Regional Police Chief.

Because of the victim's news, Panca continued, perpetrator S asked perpetrator Y to kill the victim. Where in a meeting before the incident, suspect S met with perpetrator Y and with A (DPO) at suspect S's house.

"Brother S conveyed to Brother Y, if this is the case, the person is suitable to be shot. We have proven this, we ask for information from witnesses," he said.

Therefore, the perpetrators then planned activities to teach lessons. This process, said Panca, began with a meeting between Y and A at a hotel in the City of Siantar.

"(Day) Friday at 14.30 WIB, brother A picked up brother Y at Jalan Vihara Pematang Siantar City, by car to the tuak shop to monitor the victim. At that time, the previous victim after leaving the office at 14.00 WIB at 16.00 WIB went to the tuak lapo belonging to Mrs. Ginting in Siantar. Then Y conducted monitoring to the victim's house," he said.

For their actions, these suspects were charged with Article 338 and Article 340 of the Criminal Code.

"I would like to thank all those who have given support to the National Police to uncover this case," concluded the Kapolda.
