Case Files Completed, South Sulawesi Governor Inactive Nurdin Abdullah Immediately Tried

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has completed the investigation file for the inactive South Sulawesi Governor Nurdin Abdullah.

Nurdin Abdullah was entangled in cases of alleged bribery and gratification related to the procurement of goods and services within the South Sulawesi Provincial Government in 2020-2021.

"Today, June 24, phase II was carried out or the submission of suspects and evidence from the investigative team to the prosecutor's team," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri told reporters, Thursday, June 24.

In addition to Nurdin, the KPK has also completed the investigation of the PUPR Office of South Sulawesi Edy Rahmat.

The detention of Nurdin and Edy is now under the authority of the public prosecutor (JPU). Both will be in detention for the next 20 days until July 13.

Nurdin is being held at the KPK Rutan Pomdam Jaya Guntur Branch while Edy is being held at the KPK Rutan Kavling C1.

"Within 14 working days, the public prosecutor's team compiled an indictment and immediately transferred the case file to the Corruption Court to be examined, tried and decided by the panel of judges," said Ali.

Previously reported, Nurdin Abdullah was named a suspect in the alleged bribery and gratification case related to the procurement of goods and services, licensing and infrastructure development within the South Sulawesi Provincial Government for the 2020-2021 Fiscal Year.

This PDIP politician was named a suspect together with the Secretary of the PUTR Office of South Sulawesi Province, Edy Rahmat. Meanwhile, Director of PT Agung Perdana Bulukumba (APB) Agung Sucipto was named a suspect for giving bribes.

While serving as Governor of South Sulawesi, Nurdin was suspected of receiving bribes and gratuities with a total value of Rp 5.4 billion related to projects within the South Sulawesi Provincial Government. Rp2 billion was given from Agung through Edy. The bribe was given so that Agung could return to work on the project in South Sulawesi for the 2021 fiscal year.
