Second Brigadier Police Officer Rape 16-Year-Old Girl In West Halmahera, PPP Legislator: Heavy Law

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Arsul Sani asked the public prosecutor (JPU) to impose incriminating articles and charges against Brigadier II who is suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl at the South Jailolo Police, West Halmahera, North Maluku (Malut).

"We ask the public prosecutor to impose incriminating articles and demands," said Arsul, Thursday, June 24.

Arsul said that Commission III will ensure that the criminal legal process in this case will be carried out.

Furthermore, the chairman of the DPR PPP faction explained that in the Criminal Code (KUHP), if the perpetrators of crimes are like law enforcers, the law can even be added to a third of the maximum criminal threat stipulated in the Criminal Code.

For this reason, Arsul hopes that the community, especially the people of North Maluku, will also oversee this case. And if there is a deviant process, then the public is asked to submit it to Commission III of the DPR RI.

"Commission III is paying attention to this case and getting confirmation from the Police leadership that the legal process against the perpetrators will continue," he said.

It is known, Brigadier II is suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl at the South Jailolo Police, West Halmahera, North Maluku (Malut). Now, the Police have fired the Second Brigadier, Nikmal Idwar.

Disrespectful dismissal of Brigadier II is in accordance with Articles 7, 8, and 10 in Government Regulation Number 1 of 2003 concerning Dismissal of Police Members, as well as Regulation of the National Police Chief Number 14 of 2011 concerning the Police Professional Code of Ethics.
