Rizieq Shihab's Son-in-law, Hanif Alatas Sentenced To 1 Year In UMMI Hospital Case, Lower Than Demand
JAKARTA - Rizieq Shihab's son-in-law, Hanif Alatas was sentenced to one year in prison for the case of a swab test result at the UMMI Hospital. He was found guilty of being involved in spreading false news about Rizieq Shihab's condition.
"To try, sentenced the witness to imprisonment for one year," said presiding judge Khadwanto during a trial at the East Jakarta District Court, Thursday, June 24.
In that decision, Hanif Alatas has been legally and convincingly proven to have violated the first primary indictment, namely Article 14 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
"The defendant has legally and intentionally caused trouble among the people as in the primary alternative indictment," said Judge Khadwanto in the verdict.
For information, Hanif Alatas was previously sentenced to two years in prison by the Public Prosecutor (JPU). The prosecutor assessed that Hanif had participated in spreading false news about his father-in-law's condition.
Meanwhile, Rizieq Shihab in the same case was sentenced to four years in prison. However, Rizieq stated that he rejected the verdict and filed an appeal.
