A COVID-19 Patient At Pasar Minggu Hospital Insists To Go Home, Security Guards Who Preventing Him Become Positive

JAKARTA - A video has circulated on social media showing a man known to be a COVID-19 patient running amok at Pasar Minggu Hospital, South Jakarta.

In the video, the patient who is not wearing a mask looks like he wants to run away and is prevented by health workers wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in the form of hazmat clothes.

However, the patient still wanted to leave. Until finally, two security guards stopped him without wearing PPE. This incident was confirmed by the Head of Pasar Minggu Police, Police Commissioner Bambang Handoko.

"Regarding the information or the viral video, there was a COVID-19 patient at Pasar Minggu Hospital who went berserk. According to a statement from the Head of the District Health Center (Pasar Minggu), he answered correctly," Bambang said in a video recording, Thursday, June 24.

Bambang explained that at that time, the COVID-19 treatment beds at Pasar Minggu Hospital were full. Then there was one new COVID-19 patient. Because there was no longer a treatment room, he was accommodated in a temporary room.

However, it turned out that the man couldn't wait and wanted to go home. In fact, he is still doing the infusion. Meanwhile, health workers wearing hazmat clothes and security guards who only wore masks immediately intercepted the patient.

"So, it happened like someone who was about to run away was finally arrested by the doctor. Even the doctor who was wearing PPE tore his shirt," he said.

In fact, as a result of the incident, two security guards who helped break up the patient who was raging were also infected with COVID-19.

"He was helped by a security guard who did not use PPE. According to information from the Head of Health, the security guard is currently exposed to COVID-19," said Bambang.
