Despite A Group Winner, Brazil Was Almost Humiliated By Colombia, This Is The Score

JAKARTA - Casemiro's goal at the end of the match managed to ensure Brazil advance to the next round as winners of Group B Copa America 2021 after a dramatic 2-1 win over Colombia at the Estadio Olimpico Nilton Santos on Thursday morning, western Indonesia time.

As reported by Antara, Thursday, June 24, Brazil has already qualified for the next round when entering the match, while Colombia needs additional points to enter the position.

The game had only been running for 10 minutes when Colombia had opened the scoring. Juan Cuadrado's cross was struck by Luis Diaz's overhead kick which made Weverton's Brazilian goalkeeper helpless. The score became 1-0.

Brazil tried several times to build attacks, but their efforts still failed to break into the Colombian goal.

In the 24th minute, a Brazilian effort through Richarlison's cross only hit the Colombian players and became a corner kick.

Danilo's cross in the 37th minute was met by Neymar's header, which directed the ball to Richarlison. Richarlison's final finish was still easy for goalkeeper David Ospina.

Brazil had a lot of possession in the first half but created a direct threat against Colombia. The first half closed with a score 1-0 for Colombia's advantage.

The home side did not slacken in attack in the second half, while Colombia kept their line of defense and relied more on the counter-attack.

Neymar's stab from the middle in the 58th minute ended with his hard kick from outside the penalty box. However, the ball still deviated to the left of the goal.

Two minutes, it was Richarlison's turn to stab and pass, but Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino failed to find them.

Brazil equalized the score in the 66th minute. Firmino released a slick pass that let Neymar in the penalty box, Oh my goodness Neymar's shot still hit the post after passing goalkeeper Ospina.

The Samba team was finally able to equalize in the 78th minute through Roberto Firmino's header after snatching up Renan Lodi's cross. Score 1-1.

Brazil made a dramatic comeback and locked the win in the 10th minute of added time. Neymar's corner was struck by Casemiro's hard header which Ospina couldn't stop.

This result also ensures that Brazil advances to the quarter-finals of the 2021 Copa America as winners of Group B with nine points from three matches. They will not be overtaken by Colombia, who have already completed the group stage, or Peru in third (3 matches) with both of them collecting four points.
