2 Corn Seed Corruption Suspects In Lampung Detained, One City Detainee Suspect Due To Cancer
BANDARLAMPUNG - The Lampung High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) detained two suspects in the case of procuring corn seed assistance at the Directorate General of Food Crops, Ministry of Agriculture, which was allocated to Lampung in 2017.
"The two suspects with the initials ED and IM are being held at the Class I State Detention Center (Rutan) Bandarlampung," said Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasipenkum) of the Lampung High Court, Andrie W. Sertiawan in Bandarlampung, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, June 23.
According to him, the two suspects were detained in the detention center for 20 days from June 23 to July 12, 2021.
Andrie explained that another suspect with the initials HR was detained by the city. The reason for the city's detention of HR is because the suspect is currently in a state of cancer that needs treatment.
"For suspects ED and IM, detention was carried out due to concerns that the suspect ran away, lost evidence, and influenced witnesses, and also formally the articles suspected of the suspect were made possible for detention," he said.
Andrie added that the Lampung Prosecutors' Special Prosecutor's Office investigators themselves are trying to ask for expert opinion or doctors regarding the health of the suspect HR.
According to him, if the expert testimony states that it is possible for detention to be carried out, then it is possible that the detention status of the HR suspect will be transferred to a prisoner in the detention center.
"The three suspects were charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) of the RI Law No. 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 18 paragraphs (1), (2) and (3) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 31 of 1999 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st KUHP subsidiary Article 3 of RI Law No.31 of 1999 in conjunction with Article 18 paragraphs (1), (2) and (3) of RI Law No.31/1999 juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st KUHP ," he said.
