Police Arrest Woman Making Synthetic Tobacco In Cisauk, 37 Kg Barbuk Confiscated
JAKARTA - The Pesanggrahan Police, South Jakarta, arrested a woman with the initials NN in Cisauk, Tangerang, Banten, for allegedly producing synthetic tobacco with evidence of 37.5 kilograms of raw materials ready for distribution.
"The suspect produced it himself," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Azis Andriansyah at the Pesanggrahan Sector Police, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, June 23.
Azis explained that the suspect, who is a resident of North Petukangan Pesanggrahan, was arrested on Wednesday, June 23 at around 01.30 WIB in Cisauk, Tangerang.
He explained that the suspect produced synthetic tobacco narcotics in the Serpong area, South Tangerang.
The perpetrator who was able to produce drugs was inspired by his girlfriend who is currently languishing in one of the prisons in Banten Province.
From the hands of the perpetrators, the police found evidence of packages of synthetic tobacco ready for distribution packaged in various sizes, ranging from the smallest 10 grams, 50 grams, 100 to 200 grams.
The raw materials for tobacco are purchased online and buying tobacco in the free market.
In addition, the police also confiscated synthetic tobacco production equipment, electronic scales, several cell phones, packaging and packaging equipment for synthetic tobacco.
The police also confiscated the transaction proceeds amounting to Rp21.6 million and several ATM cards.
Azis said the suspect had been producing synthetic tobacco since March 2021 and selling it through social media. The drugs were wrapped in plastic and put in a waist bag to trick police officers.
The police ensnared the perpetrators under Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which carries a death penalty or a maximum of 20 years in prison and a minimum of five years.
Synthetic tobacco is classified as class I narcotics, namely tobacco mixed with dangerous chemicals
