Governor Khofifah: No Lockdown, But Tightening Of Micro PPKM
SURABAYA - The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, has strictly enforced Micro-Scale Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) in 38 regencies/cities in East Java. This policy is expected to suppress COVID-19 cases in the East Java region which continues to climb.
"So there is no lockdown, but PPKM Mikro is strictly. This means that the tightening means at the confirmed points of the COVID-19 zone, the orange and red zones," said Khofifah, in Surabaya, Tuesday, June 22.
According to Khofifah, his party has tightened micro PPKM in a number of areas that have experienced a significant increase in COVID-19 cases. These include Pasuruan City, Malang City, Mojokerto City and Regency, Madiun Regency and City, and Ngawi Regency.
In addition, a similar policy is also applied in Bangkalan Regency. Where there are eight villages in five sub-districts with the highest spike in Covid-19 cases. Namely, three villages in Kota Subdistrict, two villages in Arosbaya Subdistrict, and one village each in Klampis, Geger, and Burneh Subdistricts.
Based on data from the East Java COVID-19 Task Force, the number of COVID-19 patients in East Java increased by 719 to 164,267 cases as of Monday, June 21, 2021. Currently, Bangkalan is the area in East Java with the highest active cases, with 941 people.
